Spring time is here

I am excited to say that Spring is final here. So far, it has been busy. I have chicks everywhere from the ages 3 months to a few days old. I have also received 25 meat chicks and we have hatched out 11 turkeys from other breeder's eggs. I hope all the hard work pays off when we winter comes and our freezer is full of meat. I have also planted some of the garden already. My goal this year is to produce enough food that will last us all winter long.

We have also had 8 new Mini Nubian kids on the farm. With all the new kids, comes wonderful milk. Too bad that the kids are drinking most of it. I can't wait until the kids are weaned and all of the milk is ours. I miss making cheese. I am just glad I am still milking our mid-size mini Jersey. That way we have enough milk to drink.

With two small children and the farm, life is really busy, but I wouldn't change a thing. I love the way my life as turned out. I love trying to be more self sufficient. Living on a farm is one of the greatest places to be. I am grateful for every minute of it.
